Original car with one professional repaint done in 1990. Still looks excellent today, a testament to the care this car has had and the condition it was in when painted. Never seen salt. Photos of the car when being painted are with the car. No rust anywhere. Car was taken down to bare metal and front sheet metal removed when painted. New correct vinyl top was installed at the time.
History:
Car was special ordered new at Smith Chevrolet in Turlock, CA by Fred Gowan from Ceros, CA in early 1969 when he returned from Vietnam. Fred was a Huey pilot and ended up doing an additional tour of duty so he was back in Vietnam when the car was delivered 12-17-1969. His sister and mother took delivery and drove the car the first year or so until Fred returned home safely in 1970 approx.
The car remained in California until 1990 when Jeff Rolling purchased the car with the intent of painting it and keeping it for himself. Jeff runs Classic Auto in Kingsley, IA and is still one of the top hot rod/classic car builders in the nation. Jeffs wife became pregnant with there first son so the car was sold to James Bookhart who worked at Knoepfler Chevrolet in Sioux City, IA on 6-20-1991 with 47,018 miles at the time. James owned the car until September of this year when he traded it for a new Traverse at Total Chevrolet in LeMars, IA and we purchased it from them.
One of the best driving original cars we’ve ever had. Everything works including the cold AC. Lots of maintenance records from over the years. Car has been perfectly maintained since new and it shows. Not a 100 point over restored show car- just a very, very original great driving car. Super solid totally rust free west coast car. Floors are perfect, Sheet metal is all original.
